Birchbox Unboxing: July 2017
I recently decided to subscribe to Birchbox; I love reading other peoples 'unboxings' so now that I'm a subscriber I couldn't not share what I received this month.
What is Birchbox?
Birchbox, for those who don't know, is a monthly subscription box where you will usually receive 5 beauty products ranging from sample size to full size. The box is £12.95 per month (Students can get 50% off their first box with Unidays) and some months you will receive an email to choose one of your own products or bag design which makes the box more personal.
This month's theme was Summer Daze and the box it came it was stunnig and I will definitely be keeping it for storage. I also had a promo code for a free extra box containing different products and this box was just as pretty.
What's in the box this month?
Benefit Cha Cha Tint Lip and Cheek Stain
RRP £25.50
The Lip and Cheek Stain was this months 'choose your own' product, you could choose between Cha Cha Tint (which I chose) or Gogo Tint when you logged into your Birchbox account. This is a product I've been wanting to try for a while now but have been to hesitant to spent so much on a product I am unfamiliar with so to receive this sample was great however it's only 2.5ml so probably won't last very long.
Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery
RRP £20
This is an overnight leave in balm that you are meant to wash out the next morning. It's supposed to 'hydrate, boost shine and fight frizz' without transferring to your pillow. This isn't a brand I've heard of before but I am excited to try this product as I've never tried any kind of overnight mask before.
English Laundry Eau De Parfum Pour Femme
RRP £46
This is a fresh floral scent with fruity top notes and can be used as a day to day fragrance however I personally believe that this is more of a mature scent therefore it will probably be a product that I will give away as I wouldn't get much use out of it.
Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water
£16
BalanceMe is apparently a very popular brand with Birchbox which annoys some subscribers due to not being able to try new brands. This product does have a huge herbal scent which I'm not a huge fan of however I am excited to try this product as it is a perfect 'Travel-Size' being 30ml and I am a huge fan of micellar water.
POP Beauty Bright Up Your Life Eyeshadow Trio in Champagne Mocha
RRP £15.50
This trio seems to have perfect colours for either a night-time look by blending all 3 shades together for a smoky eye or for a day-time look by just using 1 of the colours for a neutral wash of colour on the eyelids. The Trio also comes with a double-ended sponge applicator which I tend to always throw away as I prefer using actual eyeshadow brushes but some people find these really convenient for travelling or even just everyday makeup.
Ritual Hammam Delight Foaming Shower Gel
RRP from £4.50
This shower gel is packed with eucalyptus and rosemary to refresh your skin. This is definitely another product I am looking forward to trying as I love trying new shower gels and a foaming shower gel isn't a product I've got around to yet despite the hype for them recently.
RRP: £127.50
The free box I received this month was actually the May box (The code was only available for new subscribers so their was no chance for repeat boxes) and the theme for this box was 'It's all in the details'.
What's in the May 2017 box?
Douce Punk Volumizer Mascara
RRP £18 *Birchbox exclusive*
I am a huge mascara lover and still on the lookout for the perfect mascara so I am head-over-heals overtime I get to try a new one. This mascara has a jumbo fibre wand meaning it can define each individual lash however the brush is huge which makes it difficult to put on but this may just be due to it being a sample size whereas if it was full sized the weight would be more balanced.
Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in Fifty Shades
RRP £14.49 *Full Size*
I was extremely excited to see that we would be receiving a full sized eyeshadow in this box. Although it isn't a colour I would usually gravitate towards as I prefer neutral colours, I will definitely get some use out of it for night-time looks. This shade is a metallic gun-metal shade (as kind of given away by the title) and is a loose shadow powder. I would have preferred the Vanilla Frosting shade as I prefer more natural colours but as I said, I will definitely get use out of it and the eyeshadow alone more than covers the price of the box.
Spectrum Marbleous C06 Tulip Eye Contour Brush
£4.99 *Full Size* *Birchbox exclusive*
This is a brand I've heard quite a bit about and so was excited to receive this brush in the box as you can never have too many eyeshadow brushes!! It is slightly tapered which makes it perfect for blending, smudging and defining, it also works for both powers and creams. It's also a beautiful brush as is extremely soft.
Kueshi Hair Mask Shine and Volume
RRP £10.50
This mask is mean to strengthen, hydrate and moisturise your hair as well as add shine which is always a winner in my eyes. It is also supposed to boost hair volume which is always a huge bonus in hair products in haircare for me as I have very flat hair and am always on the look-out for products to give it some boost.
Dr. Brandt pores no more cleanser
RRP £30
This is another brand I have heard amazing reviews about so when I saw the cleanser I was so excited because cleaners are another product that I am still trying to find the 'perfect one'. This cleaner is supposed to minimise pores, dissolve impurities, clear blackheads. refine uneven skin textures and control oil. That is a lot of promises so I am excited to see how this product plays out.
RRP: £77.98
Overall, I am a lot more impressed by the free bonus box (May 2017) than this months actual box. I will probably try again with next months box as it may just be this months wasn't up to par but Birchbox might not be a subscription I continue with if they are all up to this months standards.
