Salou

Today is the last full day of my annual family holiday to Spain. This year we visit Salou and although the hotel wasn't the best (more on that later) it was such a nice week of just relaxing and not having to worry about anything.

We stayed at Hotel Belvidere and although the hotel was 'stayable' and didn't ruin our holiday, it's probably not somewhere we would come back to; Some of the food, especially at breakfast time, was very undercooked to the point where sausages were pink and chips were very raw however saying that, I am an extremely fussy eater and managed to find something to eat every meal therefore there is something for everyone, especially of an evening where they change the meals each night and the presentation of the food was also very good and they also had various freebies as you were waiting to get into the restaurant done by the entertainment team, for example one night they were giving out glasses of sangria, another night was slushees and even roses for the women one night. Another problem with the hotel is overcrowding, the room we were put in for 3 people is definitely only meant to hold 2 and a lot of people had similar issues, this meant that not only was there less room in the rooms but but the hotel itself such as the restaurants and pool area were a lot more crowded than they usually would be.

The Hotel entertainment was amazing, especially for the younger children. Every night there would be a mini disco and party games led by the hotel entertainment team (who honestly worked there butts off all day every day) and then this was followed by entertainment more geared towards the adults such as live music and boy vs girl challenges. There was even a bad thunderstorm one day and the entertainers still did the entertainment that night.

The entertainment team also worked throughout the day with the likes of poolside bingo (with a bottle of champagne as the prize) and a giant inflatable waterside on the pool on certain days.

As for the rest of the holiday, it was great. The area of Salou we were in was very lively with lots of places to eat, drink and shop and we even had our first meal there at a Harry Potter themed restaurant (which excited me a lot!).   There were plenty of places to shop for souvenirs as well  as a weekly market.

Further down from the strip of shops was the beach with pedalos, speedboats, paragliding etc. as well as a fountain just off the beach which had a lights show every night.
